The Circular Economy
(Make-Use-Remake)n
A Circular Economy aims to make the most of our precious and finite resources for the benefit of all of society. This is achieved by continuously making-using-re-making products rather than simply making-using and disposing of them with, (thanks to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation), the following principles in mind.
-
Design out waste and pollution
-
Keep products and materials in use
-
Regenerate natural systems
The marPET® model
marPET® embraces the circular economy and supports the Australian Packaging Covenant's National Packaging Targets:
- 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging in Australia by 2025 or earlier.
- 70% of plastic packaging recycled or composted.
- 30% average recycled content across all packaging.
- Phase out problematic and unnecessary single-use plastic packaging through redesign, innovation or alternative delivery methods.
